Saint Vincent de Paul Society

Our All Saints Parish St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) group, called a Conference, is made up of parishioners who are trying to “live their faith” by providing person-to-person assistance to those in need in our parish as well as in the greater community. We are one of about 12 parishes in the Des Moines area with a St. Vincent de Paul Conference. We are organized under the umbrella of the Des Moines Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which is part of a worldwide network of charity, which includes over 150 countries. Our National HQ is in St. Louis and the International HQ is in Paris, France. 
Locally our Des Moines Council operates two locations: 1426 6^th Avenue, and 520 Army Post Road, in Des Moines. Both locations have thrift stores, donations centers, food and clothing pantries, and a variety of other services including an education center. The Council also hosts a number of support programs such as workforce development skills, a BACK 2 WORK Program, an IMMERSION Re-entry support program, and offers in-person and/or virtual courses or personal assistance in healthy relationships, financial literacy, resume development and job search, and other areas as needed. These operations and programs provide many opportunities for our members to lend a “hand UP” as a volunteer in areas that may be of interest to them.
Clothing, furniture and household goods donations are always welcome, as the revenue from the sale of these items at our thrift stores directly support our operations and our supportive programs. Your donation of volunteer time as well as financial support is always valued and appreciated. Our All Saints Parish SVdP Conference is active in providing personal assistance as needed, as best we can with our Conference and Council resources available, to individuals or families experiencing hardships. Consider joining us in living your faith through service to others. We meet once a month, on a Sunday after the 9:00 am Mass. You are welcome to attend a meeting and evaluate if you are ready and able to get involved in our mission “to grow spiritually through service to those in need”.
