If you would like to talk with someone about discerning a call to priesthood or the religious life, please visit www.vocationsonline.com for more information on religious vocations, or contact your pastor or parish leaders for more information. All the baptized are called to share in the priesthood of Jesus Christ. Yet, some feel called to give their lives in deeper service to the Church. For some women and men, this might mean they will profess as a member of a religious community. Others may seek to become a lay professional in the Church. For some men, this desire is reflected in a call to the sacrament of Holy Orders. An ordained deacon, priest, and bishop all share in the sacrament of Holy Orders, in which the recipient gives himself in a sincere desire to imitate Christ in his ministry of service to the people of God. The minister of the Sacrament of Holy Orders is a bishop. © 2011 Diocese of Des Moines |
